We arrange a regular programme of cultural activities and excursions in the summer, and at any time of year for groups. There are some cultural and social activities for individuals at all times of year, and excursions on some weekends. These include visits to Oxford’s Colleges, Museums and Galleries, and punting on the river in the summer. We can arrange for groups to have lunch or dinner in the university.
Students over sixteen are eligible to join a local Health and Sports Centre. The Centre has an indoor pool, well-equipped gym, and squash courts
Oxford is well known as the home of discussion and debate. Many of our leading politicians began their careers at the Oxford University Union and Debating Society (www.oxford-union.org). OISC students are able to become associate members of this Society if they are over 16 and staying for one academic year or more.
This year we are including in Oxford the opportunity to act scenes from a play in conjunction with a professional schools theatre group. This is great fun, and also very good practice for those who are learning English.
Weekend excursions include London, Warwick, Stratford, Bath and Cambridge, as well as tours to the beautiful Cotswold countryside.
All social and cultural activities are included for under-16s. For students over 16, expected costs of the social programme can be found in the Fees section.
