Full-Time Academic Programmes – September 2022 and January 2023

Inspiring Education in the heart of the University City of Oxford

We welcome applications for the Autumn Term 2022 and the Spring Term 2023. Classes are small, with a mixture of private lessons and small seminar groups, which are very international in their intake and average five students. For students who are unable to take the programme in Oxford online tuition can be arranged.

Our Programmes

ALevels and (I)GCSE

We offer full-time exam preparation courses for A-Levels and (I)GCSE with a choice of over 30 subjects , including all Sciences, Maths, Business subjects, Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Psychology, and Languages.

Students may choose: :

  • One year intensive programme
  • Two year programme
  • Short courses for students retaking exams .

Full assistance is given in applying to Universities, including the UCAS form and personal statement.

University Foundation Course

Some students prefer to take this programme as an alternative to A-Levels. The OISC Foundation programme is recognised by over 20 UK Universities, including Oxford Brookes, which enables students who complete the programme successfully to enter one of these Universities for their degree.

The programme is normally taken over one academic year, although short more intensive programmes are also possible in some cases.

Full  assistance is given in applying to Universities, either directly to our partner Universities , and /or through  UCAS , including  the personal statement.

The OISC Foundation programme consists of three elements:

  • Chosen academic specialism eg for Business, or for Engineering
  • IELTS (Academic English examination for UK Universities)
  • Study Skills: researching information, time management ,essay writing and presentation skills. These are all essential skills for studying at University.

IELTS and other English Language programmes

Most students taking either ALevels or Foundation programmes with a view to enter a UK University will also take the IELTS exam. It consists of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking….the four essential skills of all languages.

These courses are intensively focused on the objectives of the exam, rather than more general language learning. We have a 100% pass rate for students taking IELTS preparation courses with us. We  usually advise that, with hard work, students can expect to improve their score by between 0.5 and 1.0 IELTS points during each six-month period of study.

“From an academic point of view, my English lessons helped to improve my IELTS score, which will be my passport to university, and my A-Level study helped me get a place at the university of my choice. My future definitely looks much brighter now.”           Cynthia, Angola

Students applying to Oxford or Cambridge

During the Autumn we assist a number of students in applying to Oxford or Cambridge University. These institutions hold interviews and specialised entrance tests in November and December. Tuition is at an advanced level, and is individual or in very small groups of two or three students. All tutors involved have a great deal of experience in assisting students in applying to these institutions. In many subjects there are also written tests for example for  Law or PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics) or Engineering.

If the student has not already applied we offer assistance in the late summer and early autumn with the application process, including the personal statement .

Revision programmes for students retaking the IB Diploma

We shall once again be providing support for IB Diploma students who need to retake one or more of their papers. Most subjects are offered at both HL and SL. The programmes are taught by experienced Oxford IB tutors.  Students usually stay for 12 weeks, but shorter courses are also possible.

Pre-Boarding School courses

The    Pre-Boarding Programmeassists young students to prepare for entry to Boarding School. The tests usually take place between November and January .
