A-Level retakes at OISC from September 2026
One result should not decide how ambitious you are allowed to be.
Sometimes, the route warrants reconsideration, not the destination.
Falling just short of the A-Level grades required for a particular university or course is undoubtedly disappointing. It does not, however, follow that the ambition itself was misplaced.
At OISC, our A-Level retake and resit programmes need not mean repeating an entire year. We begin with the individual student: what they already know, where further work is required and, crucially, what they intend to achieve.
With one-to-one and small group (maximum 6 students) tuition offered across more than 30 A-Level subjects, we can devise a programme accordingly.
For some, this may mean retaking a single A-Level. Others may require a broader programme. No two students arrive with quite the same circumstances, and there is little merit in pretending that the same approach will serve them equally well.
University choices matter. They shape not only what a young person studies but also the intellectual environment in which they develop, the people they encounter, and often, the opportunities that follow. Our retake programmes include comprehensive university guidance and UCAS support as standard.
A carefully considered ambition ought not to be too readily set aside on the strength of one set of results.
Sometimes the destination remains entirely worthwhile. It is simply the route that requires reconsideration.
OISC is currently welcoming enquiries for A-Level retake and resit programmes in Oxford, with programmes tailored to each student’s academic needs and university ambitions. Entry is possible either in September, or later in the academic year, and we offer options combining small group and 1:1 tuition, either full-time or part-time, to ensure that each student receives exactly the support they need to thrive, and to meet their full potential.
